About Me
Hi, my name is Jo Bannerman. I’m a professional guitar teacher based in Glasgow, Scotland, and helping people learn to play guitar is my passion. Since I started teaching in 2013, I have helped hundreds of beginner students of all ages learn guitar successfully from scratch, and I know how to make the learning process fun and enjoyable for each and every student.
Most professional guitarists have long forgotten what it was like to start out and not understand how everything works. They can’t relate to beginners, and they don’t know how to break down what they’re doing in a way that’s understandable. In a nutshell, they’re not teachers – and that’s the key difference between them and me.
I have perfected a set of teaching methods that make the learning curve feel easy and achievable for anyone starting out. My guitar lessons are specially designed for beginners, and I will ensure you have a great experience and get the results you want learning guitar. When you take lessons with me, you will be playing with confidence before you know it – and that’s a promise.

Here's how your lessons will work
Step 1: Tell Me About Yourself
When you sign up you will be invited to answer a detailed questionnaire about your experience with guitar and music so far (if any). Tell me about your favourite music, the songs or players who inspired you to play, and let me know whether you want to learn acoustic or electric guitar.
Step 2: Get Your First Lesson
I will immediately get to work creating your first lesson, and I’ll send you an email as soon as it’s ready. Depending on what topic(s) are in your lessons, you will receive a combination of written material, video and audio. You’ll be able to view or download your lessons on any device, from anywhere in the world.
Step 3: Access Your Lesson Area
When you receive your first lesson, I will also create a private folder for you that will become your own guitar lesson hub. This will store all your lessons in one convenient location that you can access whenever you want. All your future lessons will be uploaded to this folder, clearly organised so that you can easily review the things you’ve done in the past.
Step 4: Get Help & Feedback
If you ever get stuck or don’t understand something, I’m here for you. You can ask questions and get help at any time, and I’ll get back to you quickly with answers and solutions you can trust. You can send questions by email, or send me video or audio recordings that demonstrate the problem you want me to see or hear.
